The US Soccer Federation announced the dates and format for the 97th Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, with the tournament following the same setup as recent years – with one interesting exception. Once again, 40 teams will take aim at being the team to lift the Dewar Challenge Trophy and claim the $100,000 winner’s prize in the final Oct. 5.

This weekend full of USASA US Open Cup qualifying for Region I and II
After Major League Soccer held the spotlight of Lamar Hunt US Open Cup qualifying midweek, the focus shifts to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) this weekend. Region II will hold their quarterfinal round on Saturday, May 1, while Region I will feature four games on Sunday, May 2. TheCup.us will have live updates from every game on Twitter (@USOpenCup).
2010 US Open Cup qualifying: USASA Region I tournament bracket unveiled
The 2010 USASA Region I Tournament will be the largest in professional era history. It will feature 16 teams from eight different state associations as well as the National Premier Soccer League. The tournament begins on April 11, and the winners from semifinal action on May 23 will qualify for the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
