The Ocean City Barons and the Wilmington Hammerheads pulled off the lone upset of the US Open Cup Second Round. The Barons, based on the rest of the results, won the $10,000 prize money as the amateur team that has advanced the farthest in the tournament.

The Harrisburg City Islanders earned a rematch with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer by defeating the Western Mass Pioneers on penalty kicks after as 0-0 draw.
Both teams played to a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes of normal time and 30 minutes of extra time. Western Mass held on for the scoreless draw despite being out shot 15-6 over the 120 minutes.

Former City Islander goalkeeper Matt Nelson came back to haunt his old club, saving three of Harrisburg’s four penalty kicks in the shootout tiebreaker to advance Crystal Palace Baltimore to the Third Round of the US Open Cup.
Crystal Palace jumped to an early 1-0 lead on Kevin King’s 10th minute goal, but the lead did not last long.

The Harrisburg City Islanders wasted no time making sure the Yakima Reds wasted their cross-country trip, scoring in the first minute en route to a 5-1 drubbing of the PDL club. The Open Cup draw forced the Washington state-based PDL team to travel to City Island in Harrisburg, Pa. and the extra travel showed on the field as the City Islanders jumped on the Reds early.

Steve Fisher will go down in the annals of Harrisburg City Islanders history as the man who gave the club their first victory over a Major League Soccer club. His goal in the 44th minute was the difference in Harrisburg’s 1-0 victory over DC United at Hempfield High School in Landisville, Pa. It was the first time that DC United had fallen to a Second Division side in the Open Cup, and only the third time that they have lost to a USL club at any level.
