The 16-year-old midfielder Efrain Alvarez netted his first two goals with LA’s first team Wednesday night as the Galaxy roared into the fifth round of the US Open Cup with a dominant victory over amateurs Orange County Football Club.

Sigi Schmid: Greatest coach in US Open Cup history, dies at 65

This year, NTX Rayados advanced to play the Houston Dynamo in the US Open Cup, but they are not the first Dallas-based amateur side to face an MLS team. That honor belongs to Dallas Roma FC, who not only faced a MLS team, but they eliminated one.

A history of violence against referees in US Open Cup
