2012 US Open Cup First Round: Ventura County Fusion generate OT electricity, history in 6-2 win over Fullerton Rangers
Up two goals in the first 22 minutes, the Ventura County Fusion of the PDL looked to be headed to the Second Round meeting with the Los Angeles Blues of USL Pro. It took 120 minutes though as the Fullerton Rangers of the NPSL rallied, even short a man, before succumbing in a four-goal Fusion overtime blitz for a 6-2 result.

The 99th edition of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup kicks off tonight with the First Round, which includes 16 games starting at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. The opening round consists of 32 amateur teams from the USL’s Premier Development League (PDL), the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and one team from US Club Soccer (USCS). The winners of Tuesday night’s contests will earn a date with a lower division professional team in Round 2 the following Tuesday.

2012 US Open Cup qualifying: Mass Premier edge Mass United, will face Battery Park Gunners in MA final
MPS will play the Battery Park Gunners in the Final later this month. The winner of that game will advance to play in the USASA Region I Open Cup Qualifying Tournament, to be held in the Spring of 2012.
2011 US Open Cup Second Round: Wilmington Hammerheads storm back to beat Eagles in OT

2011 US Open Cup First Round: Foxes get sly in 5-0 win over DV8 Defenders
The PDL’s Real Colorado Foxes started off hot early and scorched the USASA’s DV8 Defenders of California 5-0. Five different players netted goals that helped the team advance to the Second Round to take on fellow PDL side Kitsap Pumas in their first-ever trip to the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
2010 US Open Cup Quarterfinals: Sounders FC’s Nate Jaqua scores brace and Player of the Round
Jaqua’s clutch performance earned him the Player of the Round for the quarterfinals. The award is voted on by the staff of TheCup.us and a select panel of members of the North American Soccer Reporters (www.soccerreporters.com).
2010 US Open Cup Quarterfinal: DC United downs Harrisburg 2-0, continues home dominance
DC United struck early in both halves, then held on to defeat the Harrisburg City Islanders for the second year in a row in the US Open Cup Quarterfinals, this time by a 2-0 tally. Branko Boskovic struck in the first minute, and Thabiso Khumalo doubled the lead at 47′.

The Columbus Crew dispatched the Charleston Battery 3-0, ending the USL-2 club’s underdog run. Emilio Renteria, Steven Lenhart, and Eddie Gavin all hit the net for the Crew.
