2015 US Open Cup qualifying: Maryland Bays in line for a USASA Region I double as championship games set

USASA Region I qualifying for the 2015 US Open Cup continued over the past two Sundays, with the Maryland Bays remaining alive in both the Open and Amateur Cups, Mass Premier Soccer advancing to the Open Final and changing its name to GPS Massachusetts, and New York Greek American Atlas nearly reaching double-digit goals against its Amateur Cup semifinal foes.

Days after the AC Blaugrana (Rhode Island) side that beat them in the preliminary round was disqualified for fielding an ineligible player, Mass Premier put a 5-0 thrashing on defending USASA Region I Open Cup champion Icon FC (New Jersey) on Sunday at Framingham State University.

2013 US Open Cup First Round: GPS Portland Phoenix earn first Open Cup win, 2-0 over Mass Premier Soccer

Pierre Omanga scored two goals – once in the opening 45 seconds and again on a penalty kick in the closing minutes — to lead GPS Portland Phoenix to a 2-0 victory over Mass Premier Soccer (MPS) in a U.S. Open Cup First Round match Tuesday night and advances to a Second Round match on May 21st at the Rochester (N.Y.) Rhinos.
