History partly repeated itself, as North Carolina FC carried an early second half goal by DJ Taylor to another 1-0 victory to advance to the Fourth Round of the Open Cup.

2019 US Open Cup Round 2: North Carolina FC oust Richmond Kickers in Dave Sarachan’s return to USOC

Dave Sarachan, who has the highest win percentage of any coach of the Modern Era,  is now the manager of North Carolina FC, and in Round 2 he earned his first Open Cup victory in Cary, leading the Hawks to a 4-1 win over USL League One side Richmond Kickers.

North Carolina FC scored two goals in the first half, then replicated that in the second stanza on their way to a 4-1 victory over Ocean City to advance to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup.

2015 US Open Cup Round 3: Charlotte Independence makes Carolina RailHawks’ bad day even worse with surprise 1-0 win

Capping arguably the darkest day in Carolina RailHawks history, the USL expansion Charlotte Independence quelled the hosts 1-0, ousting Carolina from the US Open Cup in the Third Round. It’s the earliest the RailHawks have exited the Open Cup since 2010.

For the second time in three years, the Carolina RailHawks have eliminated Chivas USA at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC. Rookie goalkeeper Scott Goodwin was the hero, making 11 saves, including three stops in the penalty kick shootout.

2014 US Open Cup Round 3: Carolina RailHawks eliminate Charlotte Eagles; will host Chivas USA for third straight year

The RailHawks clipped the Eagles 2-0 Wednesday evening in Cary, paced by two first-half goals from Nazmi Albadawi and Jun Marques Davidson. Carolina now advances to the third round of the 2014 Open Cup and will host Chivas USA of Major League Soccer on June 14.
