Despite playing at home and coming in as the defending state champions, returning to the USASA Region III Tournament was not as easy task as Boston Avenue Athletic Club needed to come from behind twice against the Oklahoma University club side. And at the end of the contest, BAAC owed everything to former University of Tulsa striker Ashley McInnes, who tallied all three in a 3-2 victory.

Boston Avenue Athletic Club is looking to return to the Region III tournament. This Sunday, March 4 at the South Lakes Soccer Club in Oklahoma City, BAAC will have to get past Oklahoma University Men’s Soccer Club at 3 p.m. in the Oklahoma Soccer Association’s Open Cup Championship, looking to earn a berth to the USASA Region III tournament held in Houston at the close of April.

The draw set the stage for the next four days of competition, which kicks off Friday morning at 10:00 am ET.

Just one month after tornadoes tore through the Southeast and brought heavy destruction to Tuscaloosa, Ala., the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup qualifying tournament for Region III is set to begin Friday, May 27. Eight teams from the United States Adult Soccer Association will compete for two slots in the first round of the US Open Cup, which begins June 14.

Legends FC are back in the US Open Cup for their third trip in the Professional Era. The club from North Texas, founded in 1992, have seen three recent players sign with Major League Soccer and they will take on FC Tampa Bay of the USSF 2nd Division in the first round.
