2026 National Amateur Cup: El Farolito run gauntlet to win Region IV title

The last regional champion has qualified for the 2026 National Amateur Cup. El Farolito SC of California, the team known for US Open Cup upsets of professional sides, won the USASA Region IV (West) Amateur Cup on Sunday afternoon after playing five games in three days. The final challenge saw El Faro beat defending regional champion Sin City FC, 3-0.

The Burrito Boys will head to Milwaukee, Wisconsin next month, July 24-25. Should they win that, they would qualify for a fifth straight US Open Cup tournament. The team would have also qualified in three different manners; using the National League path through the National Premier Soccer League, as John P. Motto Trophy winners, and then as National Amateur Cup champions.

The team has previously reached the national portion of the Amateur Cup, playing in the 1991 final under the name CD Mexico in a losing effort to St. Louis Scott Gallagher. Two years later in 1993, CD Mexico would win the US Open Cup, meaning a national title later this month could put El Farolito in rare company of teams that have won both national tournaments.

The Region IV men’s regional amateur cup tournament at the Western Sports Park in Farmington, Utah saw twelve, yes twelve, teams compete. These teams were broken up into groups of three and were as follows;

Group A:

  • El Farolito SC – California North, National Premier Soccer League
  • Bowaze FC – Idaho, United Premier Soccer League
  • Vacaville Elite – California North, National Premier Soccer League

Group B:

  • Sun City FC – Texas, National Premier Soccer League
  • Olympique Montreux – Utah, Greater Salt Lake Soccer League
  • Peak XI FC – Colorado, Mountain Premier League

Group C:

  • Sin City FC – Nevada, Southwest Premier League
  • Temecula FC – California South, Southwest Premier League
  • Rebels United FC – Nevada, Southwest Premier League

Group D:

  • Vikings SC – Utah, Greater Salt Lake Soccer League
  • Kita FC – Utah, Greater Salt Lake Soccer League
  • Cal South Saturdays – California South, California State Soccer Association – South

A few things to note here. Firstly, tournament officials claimed Bowaze, which competes in the non-USASA affiliated UPSL, also competes in the Southern Idaho Soccer League. However, no publicly available information supports that. Next, despite being from the state of Texas, which is part of USASA Region III (South), Sun City competes in Region IV (West) due to their home city of El Paso, Texas being closer to the western states versus the rest of Texas. Finally, Cal South Saturdays was a team created by various players from Cal South, meaning they might not have an official league. Their legal status was up for debate to be honest.

The group stage would take place over Friday and Saturday, with the teams from Groups A and B facing each other, and the teams from Group C and D doing the same. The top teams at the conclusion of the group stage would advance to Sunday morning’s semifinals, with a final between the eventual winners taking place later in the morning with only a few hours of rest. The points system in the group stage was also unique, with the following parameters.

  • WIN = 6 points
  • TIE = 3 points
  • LOSS = 0 points
  • GOALS SCORED (Up to 3) = 1 point each
  • CLEAN SHEET = 1 point

Meaning a team could end a game with a maximum of 10 points if it ended 3-0, along with other combinations of points for both teams in a game.

El Farolito came into the final match undefeated after beginning the weekend with a scoreless draw. After the slow start, they worked their way into the semifinals, narrowly escaping the group by two points. There they faced Cal South Saturdays and had to scrape back from a 2-1 halftime deficit to win 3-2, despite being down to 10-men. This earned them a date with the defending champions.

Sin City FC had a slightly easier route to the finals. Their second match was abandoned after 25 minutes and they lost their third, but they still made it out of the group. Their semifinals opponent only had eight players to begin the match — despite being a local team — and Sin City took advantage, going up 3-1 early and cruising to a 7-1 victory.

El Farolito dominated almost every aspect of the final match. They were physical and controlled the meaningful possession, not allowing Sin City to play their game the way they are used to. Neither team was able to score a goal, nor were they able to get too close, until the 29th minute when Erik Arias opened the scoring. El Farolito held the shutout through the rest of the half and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The second half started about the same as most of the first half. Sin City had a few chances spread out in the second half, but all of their best attempts went over the crossbar. El Farolito put the match away within 15 minutes of the second half. Edgard Kreye doubled the lead in the 54th minute and Dembor Benson put it out of reach in the 59th minute.

El Farolito held onto the lead and won the Region IV title, booking their spot in the National Amateur Cup.

After the match, El Farolito SC’s head coach, Santiago Perez, spoke on how much the US Open Cup means to the club.

“Yeah, the US Open Cup is a huge thing for us — and then finding there’s another way of qualifying. It’s the first time that we’ve done this, I believe, it is actually in my generation, or at least it’s the first time, I think in the 90s, the club was runner-up in the US amateur cup. So hopefully, we could advance in the semifinal, and then try to win the cup. That’ll be the first time we ever win this national amateur. So to me, it’s a huge opportunity.”

On his team’s performance, Perez said, “I’m very proud of the boys, they came out in very, very tough conditions with very large pitches, very, very difficult to play, very slow play. And we were very fortunate to get out of the semifinal, with 10 men, down one, losing 2-1 and were able to turn it around, went 3-2 with 10 men. It was an unbelievable effort, and yeah, just closing off right now was an excellent performance — more of a tactical strategy.”

2025 National Amateur Cup championship preview: 4 teams seek title, 2026 US Open Cup spot

July 24, 2025 by Michael Battista

While the 2025 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Quarterfinals are nearly complete, the next tournament is already fast approaching. Another entry in the 2026 US Open Cup will be determined this weekend in Milwaukee as the United States Adult Soccer Association holds the Semifinals and the Final of the 2025 National Amateur Cup.

For the seventh year in a row, the winner of the USASA’s National Amateur Cup will qualify for next year’s US Open Cup. The tournament is taking place at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee, Wis.

The champions of each of the four regions will play semifinal games on Friday night, before a championship game is held on Saturday night. The USASA will also be wrapping up tournaments to crown champions in the women’s amateur cup, as well as the Over-30 and Over-40 divisions.

To learn more about the Amateur Cup as a whole, consider reading our primer on it.

What is the National Amateur Cup?

This year’s regional champions is a mix of familiar faces and new competition.

RWB Adria is a regular of Midwest soccer and is seeking not only its third National Amateur Cup but its sixth US Open Cup appearance of the Modern Era (1995-present). They are, however, the only team here with previous NAC pedigree.

West Chester United got close in 2018 but fell just short to champions Milwaukee Bavarian SC. The team has won other national titles, like the Werner Fricker Open Cup and the Hank Steinbrecher Cup, but two wins this weekend would give the Predators its first National Amateur Cup championship.

The rest of the field is all new faces looking for their first taste of national titles and the US Open Cup.

Say Word FC first made headlines when it joined The Soccer Tournament (TST) in 2023, hoping to win $1 million dollars on national TV. Since then, the club has continued to grow and now plays locally in North Carolina state leagues.

Sin City FC is even newer, having only formed in 2024 and playing in regional leagues such as the Southwest Premier League and NISA Nation.

This weekend’s schedule is as follows:

With June nearly complete, and three of the four regional champions officially qualified for the National Amateur Cup, that just leaves Region II (the Midwest) as the last spot available for the national final four in Milwaukee. Two teams have qualified for the Region II final sometime in July.

Michigan Rangers FC of the National Premier Soccer League have made the most of their Amateur Cup debut. The team knocked off Open Cup regulars Chicago House AC in the Quarterfinals before cruising past Michigan Stars U-23s in the semifinals. They will face a juggernaut of Midwest soccer; Chicago-based RWB Adria of the Midwest Premier League. The two-time National Amateur Cup champion beat long-time rival Bavarian United SC from Wisconsin in the Quarterfinals and then stunned the defending Region II champion and defending national runner-up FC Milwaukee Torrent in the Semifinals.

Read on below for quick updates on every Region II Quarterfinal and Semifinal match.

2025 National Amateur Cup: Sin City FC score late to win USASA Region IV tournament

(Editor’s note: This article is made possible due to the hard work of Sean Walker, Brock Mildon, Logan Chugg, and Derick Fox – all of which helped cover the Region IV tournament in-person)

Beto Soto just had a good feeling as he stood over his free kick near the edge of the penalty area with a chance to win his team’s first-ever USASA Region IV championship and send them to the National Amateur Cup Semifinals.

The spritely midfielder thought he could see an opening around the wall of 5-6 defenders Red Devils FC put up in front of goal to defend a 3-3 maelstrom. But Soto took his shot — and sent the NISA Nation side from North Las Vegas to Milwaukee, the host of this year’s National Amateur Cup final four.

Soto’s free kick in the 87th minute broke a deadlock to lift Sin City FC to a 4-3 win over Utah’s Red Devils FC in the USASA Region IV Amateur Cup final at the Salt Lake Regional Athletic Complex.

West Chester United wins Region I title
Well-rested Say Word FC wins Region III title

The win sent Sin City FC, a club of players who have been together for about a half-dozen years, into the national semifinals. This is a club that has reached at least three cup finals, and has plans to join the Nevada Premier League next year.

“I really just felt it,” Soto said. “I had 3-4 free kick goals like that, too; I feel like it comes naturally to me. So I took a couple of deep breaths, and thank God we pulled off the win.”

Corbin Lawrence scored twice for Red Devils FC of Utah, including finding the back of the net nearly 15 minutes into the match to put the Utah side up 1-0.

But David Villanueva equalized off a corner kick, then finished a free header from Esequiel Coronel in the 27th minute to give Sin City its first lead.

Mauricio Muniz scored off a corner kick in the 39th minute to lift the Las Vegans to a 3-1 halftime advantage.

Still, the Devils didn’t go away.

Lawrence scored less than three minutes into the second half. That set up Steve Jasso, who previously played for Real Salt Lake and Real Monarchs from 2016-20, to equalize from the penalty spot after a foul in the box in the 60th minute.

Yet Sin City didn’t hang its head. The group of players knew what was at stake: a regional title and a spot in the national semifinals next month in Milwaukee.

“We’ve been playing together for the past 5-6 years, and this is maybe our fifth final; we’re used to the pressures and the butterflies. We know how to maintain our composure when we go down, or when they catch up to us.

“It’s more on the mental or psychological aspect of the game.”

All they needed was a moment of magic. Soto was happy to provide.

“This is our first ‘ship together as a team, a family, and a brotherhood,” he said. “It feels really good. This is our first win in a final, and it feels really great.”

Sin City and Red Devils both reached the final after a three-day gauntlet of games between June 20 and the morning of June 22. The teams competed in an eight team tournament, with participants separated into two groups of four. Each team played one game a day, with the team from each group qualifying for the regional final on Sunday evening. That means those teams played two games on Sunday, June 22.

The groups were as follows:

Group A

  • Boise Alpha FC (Idaho, Southern Idaho Soccer League)
  • Kita FC (Utah, Greater Salt Lake Soccer League)
  • Rebels United FC (Nevada, Southwest Premier League)
  • Red Devils FC (Utah, Greater Salt Lake Soccer League)

Group B

  • Medallo City FC (CA, Southwest Premier League)
  • Peak Eleven FC (CO, Mountain Premier League)
  • Sin City FC (NV, NISA Nation)
  • Vikings SC (UT, Greater Salt Lake Soccer League)

The group stage also included a unique set of rules, described as a “10-point system”. They were as follows:

  • 6 points for a win
  • 3 for a tie
  • 0 for a loss.
  • 1 for a shutout
  • 1 for each goal up to 3 goals

This meant a team could theoretically earn 10 points in a single match should they win (6), hold a shutout (1), and score at least three goals (3).

Below is a complete recap of the entire Region IV tournament, with scores from each of the group stage games.

On Sunday, Say Word FC won the 2025 USASA Region III Amateur Cup, becoming the second team to qualify for the 2025 National Amateur Cup Finals. The team completed a gauntlet of games, culminating with a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon against ASC New Stars.

Say Word, competing in its first-ever Region III tournament, will now head to Milwaukee later this summer for a chance at a national title and a spot in the 2026 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

West Chester United wins Region I title
Northeast Final, Midwest Quarterfinals

Last Sunday’s final was the culmination of a three day, six team tournament featuring clubs from across the southern United States. In total, six teams representing three states descended on Browns Summit, N.C.

Separated into two groups of three teams, each team played three games against opponents from the opposite group. The two teams with the highest point total after three games, regardless of group, would advance to the final on Sunday.

Weather played a factor in the tournament. Saturday, June 14 saw harsh rain sweep across North Carolina and postponed all soccer matches that evening for Region III. The games were instead played on Sunday morning, pushing the Regional final to the afternoon.

Two additional issues came from this however. Firstly, Say Word FC’s final group stage opponent, Brute Force FC, was unable to field a full squad for its final match on Sunday. That meant Say Word advanced to the final without playing a game that morning. Their opponent ASC New Stars, which had traveled all the way from Houston, battled and narrowly beat two-time defending regional champion Tobacco Road FC on Sunday morning.

The second issue was the final itself, which was pushed up from 2 pm to 1 pm local time in order to avoid incoming storms. Giving ASC New Stars even less time to recover before the championship match.

In the end, the Texas side still gave Say Word a tough match. The New Stars held the fresh squad scoreless through the first half, but Lionel Mobiang scored early in the second half for what would be the game’s only goal. New Stars were shown a red card 70 minutes in as well, making a difficult situation near insurmountable.

2025 National Amateur Cup: West Chester United wins Region I title, heads to nationals

West Chester United SC dominated New York Pancyprian Freedoms on Saturday evening in the 2025 USASA Region I Amateur Cup Final. The Pennsylvania side won, 3-0, and earned a direct spot in the 2025 National Amateur Cup tournament later this summer. The win is West Chester’s second-ever regional amateur cup but first since the tournament began awarding direct US Open Cup qualification in 2017.

The New York Pancyprian Freedoms, the defending National Amateur Cup champions, will not be able to defend their title in Milwaukee. West Chester meanwhile will attempt to win their first ever National Amateur Cup. The team is two wins away from both the natty and a guaranteed spot in the 2026 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.

On a soggy day at the Ukrainian American Sports Center in Horsham, Pa., West Chester technically played the role of the visitors despite being only a couple miles from home. They opened the scoring in the 12th minute when goalkeeper Tino Kneis sent a ball down the field to a running Josh Luchini. He finished the play with a successful low shot past the Freedoms’ goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

The Freedoms looked stunned. The goal marked only the second time this tournament that the team had trailed. Speaking to Philadelphia Soccer Now after the game West Chester head coach Blaise Santangelo noted how the Freedoms still couldn’t be overlooked.

“Getting up early on them was super huge,” he said.  “They’ve been down to Lansdowne (Yonkers FC) twice recently, and they’ve come back to win 3-2 so we knew they weren’t going to go away without giving a fight.”

West Chester kept the pressure early and capitalized once again before the half hour mark. A free kick by Dylan Lacy found the head of Ridge Robinson on the left side of the box. The attempt found the back of the net to make it 2-0 in the 28th. The goal was Robinson’s third of the tournament.

New York exited the half trying to cut into the deficit. The defending champs pulled the West Chester backline but couldn’t break through. It forced the New York goalkeeper to push up into the Predators’ end. In the 84th minute, defender John Ricks headed the ball to substitute Tomas Ascoli. A quick pass to Jack Jasinski saw the Princeton player hit a slow roller on goal that made it across the goal line.

That was the nail in the coffin for the Freedoms title defense. When the full time whistle sounded, coach Santangelo congratulated everyone in his group for their effort on the day.

“I tell the guys every year at the beginning of the year, this is the one, this is the one we need to win,” Santangelo said. “We lost in the final to Milwaukee Bavarians in 2018 and this is one we’ve been trying to get to and to finally get back there. We still have a lot of work, we’re going to play against some great competition, I’m sure, but it’s to get out of this region is pretty special. A lot of times national champs come out of this region.”

The following two paragraphs come directly from Philadelphia Soccer Now’s recap of the match.

The trip to Milwaukee in late July will be the third final four event of the season for the Predators, who are managing multiple leagues and competitions with a deep and talented pool of players ranging from teenagers to players approaching their 30s and older. They came up short last weekend in the Hank Steinbrecher Cup to champions El Farolito in the semifinal but have a chance to win the American Premier Soccer League title next weekend in addition to this third opportunity.

Saturday’s final for West Chester United nearly didn’t happen. After losing to Christos FC in the semifinal, West Chester United filed a protest that was upheld by the league office in Chicago.

2025 National Amateur Cup: Northeast Final, South tournament, Midwest Quarterfinals this weekend

June 13, 2025 by Michael Battista

The 2025 National Amateur Cup is shifting into high gear.

This weekend, two teams will clinch their spots in the national finals later this summer in Milwaukee. The defending national champions are still alive, the South has six teams vying for one spot, and the Midwest has four Quarterfinal matches on the menu.

Since 2018, the champion of the National Amateur Cup, the highest tournament in the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA), receives direct qualification to the following year’s Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. For the last few years, TheCup.us has tracked the National Amateur Cup from its regional stages all the way up until the national final. These updates have been provided on Twitter / X and stats have been kept internally.

USASA is broken into four regions, each holding their own amateur cup tournament respectively. The champions of these four tournaments qualify for the national finals later this summer.

You can find information for this weekend’s games below. Additionally, here are links to the articles made over the last month regarding other results:

REGION II (MIDWEST)

The USASA Region II Amateur Cup, also known as the Bill Davey Amateur Cup, recently completed the Quarterfinal round. Due to the quick turnaround between rounds, TheCup.us was unable to properly get this match information out prior to games being played.

Please check our Amateur Cup schedule page for updated results as they become available. A complete recap of the round will be compiled next week.

REGION III (SOUTH)

The USASA Region III Amateur Cup tournament kicks off tonight, and will crown a champion on Sunday. The shortest and most physically demanding of the four regional tournaments, Region III’s format includes a group stage and knockout round over the course of three days. That means teams will be playing two games in one day (Saturday).

Most of this information was not finalized until earlier this week.

The 2025 regional is taking place at Bryan Park Soccer Complex in Browns Summit, N.C. and will include six teams divided into two groups. The top team from each group will face off on Sunday morning for the regional championship.

The field includes two-time defending regional champion Tobacco Road FC.

The groups and teams are as follows:

Group A:

  • Say Word FC (NC, NCSL)
  • Tar Devils SC (NC, NCSL)
  • Tobacco Road FC (NC, TASL*)

Group B:

  • ASC New Stars (TX, HFA)
  • Brute Force FC (GA, ADASL)
  • Peachtree FC (GA, ADASL)

(Note: Tobacco Road competes primarily in USL League Two. The organization’s Over-30 team competes in the Triangle Adult Soccer League, and the team competing in the regional amateur cup tournament is using that affiliation to take part.)

The schedule for the tournament is as follows. TheCup.us will do its best to keep complete records of goal scorers from each game.

REGION IV (WEST)

The USASA Region IV Amateur Cup has a new format for 2025.

The region’s website says the tournament will take place in a single location, Salt Lake City, UT, over the course of three days between June 20 – 22.

At this time, TheCup.us cannot confirm the teams taking part in the regional tournament. However we have not heard of any additional tournament games (i.e. a Quarterfinal between teams in the same state) prior to this.

Last year, the tournament remained open and ten teams signed up. The final four played a single location knockout tournament in Las Vegas, NV where FC Arizona (AZ, NPSL) won.

National Amateur Cup Finals

On April 7, Utah Adult Soccer posted a graphic on Instagram claiming that the national finals will be held in Milwaukee, Wis.

TheCup.us has confirmed with USASA sources that this is true. The national final four, featuring the regional champions from across the country, will be held at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. The 4,000-seat stadium has previously hosted the U.S. Women’s National Team and was the former home of the Milwaukee Rampage (three-time US Open Cup qualifiers).

Round 2 closed out with a rematch from last fall’s US Open Cup qualifying tournament. Chicago House once again beat Wisloka Chicago, 3-2, to clinch a spot in the Amateur Cup regional quarterfinals. It was a beautiful night in the windy city and both teams scored twice in the opening half to make a deadlock heading into the break. It would be Ricardo “Kikis” Avalos who stepped up early in the second half to score what would be the game winning goal. House is now back in the quarters for a second straight year, having lost to eventual regional champion FC Milwaukee Torrent in 2024’s tournament.

“These are the kinds of games that show who we are — resilient, hungry, and united. Every player stepped up tonight, and I’m proud to wear the armband for this group. But we’re not satisfied. The mission continues,” said House captain Pau Mateo Chacon after the match.

The 2025 National Amateur Cup, fresh off completing a round of games in the Midwest, is set to continue this weekend. Two regions of the country will see games while a third will close registration for its own amateur cup regional tournament next week.

You can find information for every game the last two weeks below. Additionally, here are links to the articles made over the last month regarding other results:

REGION III (SOUTH)

No information regarding the USASA Region III Amateur Cup has been released at this time.

REGION IV (WEST)

The USASA Region IV Amateur Cup seems to have a new format for 2025.

The region’s website says the tournament will take place in a single location, Salt Lake City, UT, over the course of three days between June 20 – 22, 2025. The deadline to register is Friday, May 23, 2025 and the fee to commit is $400. That date is fast approaching, with less than a week to enter.

In previous years the Region IV tournament has had a chaotic structure. Typically, it’s open admission for any eligible team from the region to participate. However, changing leadership and travel difficulties have made the tournament suffer in recent years with forfeits and hectic structuring.

Last year, the tournament remained open and ten teams signed up. The final four played a single location knockout tournament in Las Vegas, NV where FC Arizona (AZ, NPSL) won.

The description for the 2025 tournament could be a continuation of this. Knockout games could be regionalized until four remain, who will then travel to Utah in late June. Once we know more, we will pass this along.

In the meantime, interested teams from the following state associations, and the National Premier Soccer League, can sign up using the line above:

  • Alaska State Soccer Association
  • Arizona State Soccer Association
  • California Soccer Association – North
  • California State Soccer Association – South
  • Colorado Soccer Association
  • Hawaii Soccer Association
  • Idaho State Soccer Association
  • Montana State Soccer Association
  • Nevada Adult Soccer Association
  • New Mexico State Soccer Association
  • Oregon Adult Soccer Association
  • Utah Soccer Association
  • Washington State Adult Soccer Association
  • Wyoming Soccer Association

National Amateur Cup Finals

On April 7, Utah Adult Soccer posted a graphic on Instagram claiming that the national finals will be held in Milwaukee, Wis.

TheCup.us has confirmed with USASA sources that this is true. The national final four, featuring the regional champions from across the country, will be held at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. The 4,000-seat stadium has previously hosted the U.S. Women’s National Team and was the former home of the Milwaukee Rampage (three-time US Open Cup qualifiers).

The 2025 National Amateur Cup kicked off with eight games across the Northeastern United States on Sunday. Four former champions and plenty of new faces took part in USASA Region I’s Amateur Cup tournament. Round 1 splits the bracket between North and South, with most games being reasonably distanced between one another.

There were blowouts, one extra time game, and one that some would consider an upset in the early stages of the 101st National Amateur Cup tournament.

Christos FC (MD, APSL)
2:1
Colonial SC (PA, USLPA)
Bryn Athen College – Bryn Athen College, PA

USASA Region I regulars and 2016 National Amateur Cup champions Christos FC advanced past Colonial SC, 2-1. The Pennsylvania side scored a late goal to keep things interesting but it turned out to just be a consolation prize.

KO Elites FC (CT, APSL)
1:3
Loco Gunners (MA, BSSL)
Madison Park High School – Boston, MA

Loco Gunners came out on top over KO Elites thanks to a late goal by Arsen Melkumyan that put the game away for the home side. The Gunners took a first half lead thanks to a long shot by Justin Freitas that caught the KO keeper standing still. Freitas doubled the lead in the second half but DeAnte Anderson of KO Elite cut into the deficit with just over 20 minutes to play.

Loco Gunners has history with the National Amateur Cup, having won the national title in 2012 under the name “Battery Park Gunners” over Chicago area powerhouse RWB Adria. Coincidentally, the team wore those 2012 championship kits on Sunday.

The three-time US Open Cup champions graced the historic venue, with Municipal Stadium having a history of National Challenge Cup games since its opening in 1930. The home side, which is making its APSL debut this Spring, was completely overpowered.

After a fun match against Loudoun United FC in the First Round of the 2025 US Open Cup, West Chester United SC got back into its winning form over the weekend. The side beat Maryland outfit Das Bierhalle FC, 7-0, with braces from Ayoub Mouhou and 19-year-old Dylan Lacy. West Chester qualified for the tournament by winning the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association’s Bill O’Neill Amateur Cup, the team’s fourth straight year capturing the title.

Atletico Boston (MA, BSSL)
3:2
Ironbound SC (NJ, GSSL)
After Extra Time
Eddie Moraes Stadium – Newark, NJ

Despite having the longest travel of the round, Atletico Boston came away with the win over Ironbound SC, 2-1 after extra time. Both teams traded goals in the first half, with Ricardo Oliveira giving the home side the lead before Alex Kadelliu responded with a counter-attack goal off the restart. Kadelliu notched a brace in stoppage time to put Boston ahead. Right off the start of the second half, Nicholas Neme tied the game again and it would remain that way until the verge of penalty kicks. Instead, a corner kick by Atletico caused chaos in the box and the side judge whistled for a handball against Ironbound, causing an uproar by the home side. Bruno Coccia calmly converted to put the away side through.

Of note, both goalkeepers played excellently. Luis Rivera of Ironbound and former New England Revolution academy and Vermont Green keeper Tristan Stephani of Atletico kept each of their teams in the match with great performances.

West Chester United SC (PA, NPSL)

Club Atlético Los Toros (VA, APL)
Nike Park – Great Falls, VA

While the state league West Chester team sailed through Round 1, the NPSL side flamed out against Club Atlético Los Toros, 3-0. The defending Metropolitan DC-Virginia Soccer Association (MDCVSA) state cup champions advanced thanks to a brace from former Puerto Rico and Bolivia pro Jeymer Diaz, along with three assists from Franco Castillo Garcia.

West Chester, which qualified as an NPSL team based on its performance in the 2024 season, most likely struggled due to cup-tied players. A majority of the organization’s best players were already locked onto the USLPA team that won earlier in the day.
