2014 US Open Cup Second Round: Luke Winter’s brace helps Chattanooga FC to historic win, earns TheCup.us Player of the Round

Luke Winter added to his growing list of achievements as his two goals propelled Chattanooga FC to a historic US Open Cup win in Round 2. By defeating the Wilmington Hammerheads 3-1 on May 14, the Tennessee club became the first NPSL side to register a win against professional competition.

2014 US Open Cup Round 2 review: Largest round in Modern Pro Era brings more drama, another forfeit

The Second Round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup took place on May 13 and 14 with a record 24 games on the schedule. After a rare forfeit, the remaining 23 games did not disappoint as all 46 teams were looking to book a place in the next round, which features the entrance of NASL clubs into the competition.

2014 US Open Cup Round 2: Oklahoma City Energy beat Tulsa Athletics as tournament returns to Oklahoma (video)

It was the first Open Cup game held in Oklahoma since 1997 when Los Lobos (USASA) welcomed the Central Jersey Riptide to Tulsa for a first round game (Riptide won 1-0). 17 years later, the tournament has returned to the Sooner State.
