The 1995 US Open Cup champions Richmond Kickers, a professional side from USL League One started off the 2019 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup with a 6-2 victory against amateur side Virginia United.

Virginia United and their supporters scored twice to tie the game before defeating Maryland’s World Class Premier Elite FC in a penalty kick shootout.
