Goals by Lawrence Olum and Luc Harrington in the first twenty minutes sparked the Portland Timbers to a 2-0 victory over the Bakersfield Brigade in a First Round Lamar Hunt US Open Cup match on Tuesday night.
Olum scored in the fourth minute off a corner kick from Luke Kreamalmeyer, with Harrington doubling the margin by re-directing a Kiki Lara cross in the 18th minute.
Portland moves on to face their archnemesis, the Seattle Sounders, in the Second Round on June 26th. The Sounders advanced with a 4-1 win over Banat Arsenal.
