The first weekend of the second round of the 2016 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup open division qualifying tournament is in the books and five East Coast teams emerged victorious. Three-time US Open Cup champion New York Pancyprian Freedoms join four other teams seeking their first-ever berth in the tournament.
This weekend’s five winners join the North Texas Rayados in the third and final round after the International Portland Select (Oregon) withdrew from the tournament because they were unable to make the trip to Dallas.
The rest of the second round will take place next weekend (Nov. 21-22) with eight games in California, Louisiana, Florida and Colorado.
The final round of qualifying will take place in April of 2016 and the draw for that round will be announced sometime after Jan. 1.
