2014 US Open Cup Round 3: Orlando City SC calm Tampa Bay Rowdies to earn rematch with Colorado Rapids

orlando-city-logoIn a showdown of central Florida foes, the future MLS side Orlando City of USL Pro dominated from the opening and cruised to a 4-1 victory over the NASL’s Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The Lions used thee goals from three different players in the first half-hour to build an insurmountable lead. Kevin Molino scored 11 minutes in and Austin da Luz doubled the advantage in the 22nd. Adama Mbengue added the third four minutes later and Molino scored a second four minutes before halftime to make it a four-goal margin.

Tampa Bay found some hope just before the break through Blake Wagner, but the second half would go scoreless as the Lions stood firm for the victory and a Fourth Round meeting on the road with the Colorado Rapids.
