Since 2003, the small staff at TheCup.us (formerly USOpenCup.com) has been the Internet’s only source for full coverage of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. We have put in countless hours of our own time in order to give this great tournament the coverage it deserves, from early state qualifying, all the way to the championship game. Much of that time has gone into historical research, as we try to piece together the history of the tournament that dates back to 1913/14.

In September of 2009, we were forced to give up our USOpenCup.com URL, and start a new website (Read all about the situation here). From the day USOpenCup.com was started in 2003, until it was shut down in the Fall of 2009, we were unable to receive any compensation (either via donations or advertisements) for our work due to legal issues with the US Soccer Federation.

Now, with TheCup.us in place, we are allowed to place advertisements on the site (if you are interested in advertising on TheCup.us, feel free to contact us) and we can now accept donations.

If you appreciate the work that we’ve done over the years, and would like to help us move forward to expand our coverage, please use the donation button above to show your support.

Or, if you would like to help the site while receiving something in return, you can purchase a special Del Rey City SC jersey with TheCup.us logo across the front. For every jersey purchased, the club will donate half of the proceeds to TheCup.us. Click HERE to buy yours today.

The 2021 US Open Cup is expected to be reduced to 24 teams and few may know this will mark the second time in the tournament’s history that the entire field was selected by invitation only instead of individual club entry.
