MLS needs a Championship to relegate teams at the bottom to. The play is tepid at best and the season has no urgency as it has relative ease to make play offs. The only way for US to get to the level of the rest of the world is to do like they do.

The Open Cup is what makes soccer more compelling than other pro-sports in the US. Love it. We need promotion / relegation instead of heavy entry fees to MLS. Let’s promote soccer in this country instead of just fees for MLS. Doesn’t have to be today, but needs to be in the conversation. MLS has done a great job, but that doesn’t make it infallible or untouchable.

    oh, yeah. Go Cosmos!

I agree heartily with OpenCupFan and would love to ultimately see a final NY Cosmos v Portland Timbers! That would slay.

and too bad neither the timbers or the cosmos are going to win it. Sounders are best in the West and MLS without our two best players and our super star. and we have a better chance of winning our 4th open cup than any other team winning it. Sounders are too quality this year.
