The Richmond Kickers continue to be the Cinderella story of the 2011 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup after a 2-0 historic upset of Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City in the Quarterfinals. At the heart of their Open Cup run is veteran goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale, who made five saves to help the Kickers become the first lower division team to defeat back-to-back MLS teams on the road. 2010 US Open Cup: Nate Jaqua of Seattle Sounders named TheCup.us Player of the Tournament
Nate Jaqua tied for the tournament lead in goals (5), and carried the Sounders to the US Open Cup final. Despite only playing a couple of minutes in the championship game, Jaqua was voted the Player of the Tournament by the staff at TheCup.us and a select panel of the North American Soccer Reporters.

Sanna Nyassi of the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup champion Seattle Sounders has been voted TheCup.us Player of the Round for his performance in the Open Cup final. Nyassi scored both goals in the Sounders’ 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Columbus Crew, giving Seattle their second consecutive Open Cup title.
2010 US Open Cup semifinals: Nate Jaqua wins second straight Player of the Round award
Nate Jaqua of the Seattle Sounders has won TheCup.us Player of the Round award for his two-goal performance in the semifinals of the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Jaqua scored two of the Sounders’ three goals in a 3-1 win over Chivas USA to punch their ticket to their second straight Open Cup final. He edged out teammate Steve Zakuani for the honor, who assisted on two of the three goals.
