For regular Open Cup participants Des Moines Menace, it was another notch to their belt tonight as they defeated Duluth FC on penalties to advance to the second round after a 1-1 extra time match. Des Moines won the penalty shootout 3-1.

The second division club from Fenton, Missouri, ventured north to Duluth and delivered a fatal blow to the Bluegreens’ Open Cup aspirations in a midweek interleague clash at Public School Stadium.

A cold and dreary evening in Duluth, Minnesota set the stage for an offensive extravaganza between the Dakota Fusion and Duluth FC in the first round of Open cup play as Duluth FC prevailed on penalty kicks 3-0, after a 4-4 draw and extra time at James Malosky stadium.
