Scoring Summary
Reading: Andrew Wenger 57’

The Real Maryland Monarchs needed extra time to get past the PDL’s Reading United AC 2-1 at Reading, Pennsylvania. Reading nearly took an early lead when ten minutes into the game, forward CJ Sapong fed Billy Schuler down the right side, whose shot was deflected wide by Monarch’s goalkeeper Brian Levey. On the ensuing corner kick, United again just missed an early lead. Once again Levey deflected a shot away, this time from Eric Schoenle.
Reading finally broke the deadlock in the 57th minute. Luke Mulholland was fouled just outside the penalty area, and Schoenle headed home the ensuing Andrew Wenger free kick for a 1-0 lead. Real Maryland only needed 13 minutes to respond however. On just their second shot on goal of the game, Nick Paterson converted a free kick to tie the score.
The Monarchs took the lead for good eight minutes into extra time when Ben Hunter’s free kick was headed in by Jyler Noviello.
